Communism Revisited

We slept in this morning and then hiked off (more slowly today) to the Communism Museum. This was a museum dedicated to telling the sad story of Communism’s takeover of Czechoslovakia, followed by the Velvet Revolution and final escape from communism during the Prague Spring of 1989. It was somewhat depressing, but it does help you get a feel for how recent the misery in was here in the Czech Republic.

Too Hot

Getting a little tired of the heat, we walked back to the hotel for a lazy afternoon in front of the fan. These buildings stay a bit cool, but air conditioning wouldn’t be a bad addition.

Spanish Dinner

We have passed a Spanish restaurant called El Centro several times and decided to try it out. I might have mentioned central Europe is not a culinary Mecca. I had a stuffed pepper (rellano) and it was very good. Linda had chicken crouquettes with cheese melted into the process. Also not too bad. All the time we were eating there was a massive downpour. Heat improved !!

Live Blues

For our last night in Prague we visited a Jazz Club close to our hotel called the U Maleho Glena. It was the classic dark, small space in a basement featuring Stan the Man and the Bohemian Blues Band. No way to describe Stan, but his guitar playing was masterful. We also invited Jan, our tour guide along because he loves Jazz and Blues. Turns out he has 5 electric guitars and waxed eloquent about Stan’s Fender Telecaster and the particular sound it had.
